"Finally got to this restaurant I have been wanting to try out for a while. It is located about 1/2 mile from Taste of India, on the other side of Rt 202.
The decor and menu is similar to a typical Northern Indian buffet place. However, upon closer examination, they seem to excel in vegetarian items on the menu like Baigan Bhurta (baked eggplant), Channa dal, Spinach, etc.
The tandoori chicken and chicken makhani were a bit of a let down (the tandoori was dry and seemed to be reheated vs fresh). On the other hand, the fresh naan served table side and the free Mango lassi were a nice touch. Desserts were passable in a pinch.
Price (if that matters) is still at $9.50/person and they have not raised their prices like the other Indian restaurants to account for the rise in rice and wheat flour prices." |
"Ownership and service is terrific. Food terrific. Miss the table side sizzle platter service. A must try." BYOB |
"Very nice place-clean, not crowded, and good food. Just the right amount of pappadoms (spelling) before the meal with assorted chutneys, and the chicken tikka was truly outstanding! Very spicy, though my chicken curry needed a little more spice. All in all, a nice dining experience." |
"Chinnar is the Best in Philly Area - I'll make a quick list: Pros: 1. Nice and Clean 2. Awesome staff, so polite and really helpful. They always play with my son and ask about him when I go to pick up food. Splendid personalities! 3. Food is just... amazing. It's not greasy like other restaurants which hurt my stomach after a few hours. The portions are great and the prices are very fair. I love the food, I love Chinnar!! 4. Quiet and not too crowded. 5. The meat is Halal (I can confirm on the chicken because I've seen the box that they purchased it in). This comment is out there for all the Muslims looking for Halal food to eat. Cons: 1. It's not free 2. My stomach isn't big enough to eat all their tasty dishes that are on the buffet. 3. I'm gonna drool thinking about the food there. Chinnar Rocks basically!" |
Great food !"Love their curry here. Just to die for. The family who runs the place is very nice and always has a smile. Their food is top notch with ingredients that always seem fresh. The dining room is a somewhat boring strip mall room, but it immaculately clean and they run a great buffet for lunch. Definitely recommended, esp if you like your Indian spicy!" |
